TIME IS RUNNING AWAY
TO ALL DISCIPLINES:
Please note you will have to come and help the show team setup. We will need boys on Monday all day and Tuesday to help do some shifting. And can we have people for painting on Monday afternoon and Tuesday. Thank you. Please come and help, as this is your show as well. We start work 8am everyday till late. We have a lot of work to get through so the more the merrier. Those who come bring basic tools, like screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, and if you have it cordless drill with bits.
Also due to our drinks sponsor pulling out at the last minute we have had some budget issues. Therefore those who ordered DVD players, you will have to buy your own. I’m sure you can get a cheap one from Tesco’s, plus you get to keep it at the end. Sorry it’s out of my hands.
Those who have ordered plinths, boxes, etc to be built, please do not pester the technicians as they have a huge amount of work. I will announce when your structure has been made.
Everyone bring your dissertations on Friday as we have a library where everyone’s dissertation will be showcased. There will be an announcement on the collection of dissertations soon by context people. I will inform you too when the time comes.
All the best.

Private View Dates
I think there has been some confusion over the dates of the show. The private views will be the 16th for friends and family and 18th for industry. These are by invitation only. We each get 3 invitations to hand out. The college have decided this not us. The show is then open between the 15th and the 21st for all.

Important Catalogue Info...
Thanks to everyone for coming down and working together to achieve the photographs, they are looking really great. We’ll put one up online for everyone to look at as soon as we can.
Catalogue information
The format of the catalogue has been designed with your work as the main focus – each person will have a double page spread purely to showcase their work, this is a substantial increase in space compared to last years book. We are in the process of confirming the exact photographic options for you to choose from (We’ll post more detailed guidelines on Monday, please check your e mail). For consistency and to maintain a constant colour reproduction it is necessary for all work will be shot in the photo studio – no digital files from you will be placed in the book. Also all moving image work will feature on an accompanying DVD – regardless of which pathway you are in.
The photographs that were taken on Wednesday will be used as section dividers to separate the pathways and are likely to feature as a main design component for our degree show branding. We also hope to produce a series of prints of the images which will be available to purchase. All monies will go towards the degree show.
The photo shoot for the work will take place on the following days:
Monday 30 April Tuesday 1 May Wednesday 2 May
– in the photography studio
Each person will be allocated one of these days and a time to come and get their work photographed. The lists will be put up around college and e mailed out on Monday. We estimate that each person will have 10 minutes to set their work out before the photo is taken. Make sure you have print outs of any film stills or large-scale work you wish to include for the layout.
Also, if you have not registered on the degree show website please do it now. It takes 2 minutes and it allows you to upload your work and contact info as well as post messages. This will be the official site that will accompany the degree show.
Thanks

Confirmed – Work In Progress
The Work In Progress show will take place from 8–10 March at La Viande, Charlotte Road, EC2 3DH. The gallery has a large upstairs room with a street level window and a similar basement space. The show will take the format outlined in the previous work in progress post. We are currently in the process of recruiting designers / illustrators / photographers etc to come and run workshops whilst the space is open. Please think of projects that you would like to initiate in the space, it's our first chance to have a large open studio where we can freely work together for three days. Its our chance to make extra work out of the work in progress event rather than spending the time displaying work we have already done. We are also in talks with material suppliers so that we have some basic raw materials to draw projects from. Group work is highly encouraged, so get together with a few friends and think of a project that you would like to work on in the gallery/studio.
The private view will take place on Saturday March 10th, where all work produced in the gallery over the three days will be displayed.

Work In Progress Show
At todays meeting we decided that rather than having a work in progress show it might be better to have a work in progress event. This way we're not just having an exhibition of our work twice. We want the event to last over 3 days culminating with a private view on the last night. The idea is that we arrive in the space (ideas for locations please) on day one with nothing, then set about creating work for the following 2 and a half days. We will provide basic materials but the idea is that everyone runs their own project or works in a group and brings what they need. We also want to offer a series of workshops or events over the course of the three days, these could be anything from whole day to 1 hour briefs. We will invite people to take part in these events including professionals and students, charging them a small fee for the privilege (£2 or something like that). At the end of the third day we'll hold the private view of all the stuff we have made and sell it off to raise cash for the degree show. Hopefully we can get some media attention to cover it. Multiples of items could be made for portfolios etc. It will be for all disciplines and a record of all activities undertaken will be made. It will be a fun eclectic event that will hopefully have more impact and create far greater profile than just hanging our work on a wall. What do you think? Comments/ideas for venues please!
